Exploring TECNO’s Cutting-Edge Rollable Smartphone Technology
We eagerly desire the availability of this intriguing rollable smartphone concept for purchase. TECNO has recently stepped up its game, introducing advanced technologies like a retractable camera and a foldable phone. Now, the company has unveiled the TECNO Phantom Ultimate, a cutting-edge rollable phone with a 6.55-inch LTPO OLED screen boasting a resolution of 2,296 x 1,596. With a simple button press or swipe gesture, this screen smoothly extends to an impressive 7.11 inches in just 1.2 to 1.3 seconds.
While this doesn’t represent a significant increase in screen size, it could still make a noticeable difference for tasks such as watching videos, browsing the web, or playing games. When not in use, the rollable screen neatly wraps around the back of the device, serving as an always-on display. It’s worth noting that this part of the screen can also function as a small viewfinder for taking rear camera selfies.
In terms of dimensions, the Phantom Ultimate is 9.93mm thick, which places it between the thickness of the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the folded Galaxy Z Fold 5.
While TECNO’s promotional materials don’t reveal any notable flaws on the screen, we’re keen to examine a real-world concept device to see for ourselves. LG’s canceled rollable phone had visible creases on its display, but in contrast, OPPO’s rollable concept seemed smoother, with only minor imperfections along the edge.
Looking back, this isn’t the first time TECNO has impressed us with a concept phone. In January 2023, the company showcased the Phantom Vision V concept device, which seamlessly transitioned between being foldable and rollable, featuring a commendable 10.1-inch screen size. This reaffirms TECNO’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of mobile technology innovation.
