Aston Martin GT3 Race Car Unveiled

Aston Martin reveals the evolution of racing with the Vantage GT3, boasting enhanced power, aerodynamics, and track performance capabilities.

Aston Martin has unveiled a new GT3 race car alongside an updated version of its road car.

Next to the introduction of the Vantage road car, Aston Martin has also unveiled the GT3 racing car variant of the two-door coupe. That being said, it’s somewhat of a post-disclosure “”disclosure”” because this new Vantage previously participated in the race during last month’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Today, we will acquire all the information and have the opportunity to observe the new Vantage racer in its local Aston Martin-designed appearance. Similar to the regular car, the new Vantage GT3 has a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine beneath its bonnet. It is a special race edition of the engine with custom turbochargers, a specialized oiling system, and other enhancements. The power, of course, may vary based on the Balance of Performance constraints, but Aston believes it will produce “”more than”” 536 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. The vehicle utilizes a six-speed Xtrax sequential transmission and Alcon brakes for braking.

The design and aerodynamic package are completely new for this next-generation GT3 car, as is the suspension. Aston states that their previous car experienced significant downward movement when braking, but after extensive adjustments and testing with damper tuning, they feel the issue has been resolved. It also anticipates increased stability from the car in all conditions and more uniform tire wear for long periods.

A redesigned nasal structure assists in achieving aerodynamic objectives and facilitates potential maintenance scenarios for the crew. Now, it is made of a single piece of carbon fiber and has a quick-release design for easy modifications in the pitlane if it is damaged on the track. The Vantage features a smaller splitter, sizable louvers in the front wheel arches, and much more substantial louvers in the rear arches, all aimed at enhancing aerodynamics. And naturally, its overall design takes inspiration from the updated road version of the Vantage, giving it a very modern appearance on the track.

Aston anticipates that about 30 Vantage GT3s will participate in different race series worldwide in 2024. You may witness it in action at renowned events such as the Nürburgring 24 Hours, Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hours, and the most significant of them all, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
