Rumors suggest that upcoming remakes of classic Sega games may be coming to the next Nintendo Switch console.
According to the latest rumor, Sega is planning to release a series of classic reboots on the upcoming Nintendo Switch successor, which is currently referred to as Switch 2.
Twitter/X users who are recognized for their insider knowledge about impending Sega projects have revealed that the upcoming collection of revamped vintage games being developed by the business will also be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 along with other modern gaming systems.
The Twitter/X user mentioned that the new Jet Set Radio game will not be a remake. Instead, the game is a restart that will be launched in 2026. According to them, there were also plans for a remake of Jet Set Radio. The game was initially planned to be released in 2027; however, it has changed its production. The Jet Set Radio revival will include a whole new storyline that will involve both new and familiar characters.
Concerning the Crazy Taxi series, the source stated that there was a project to redo and revive it. They mentioned that the game announced at The Game Awards 2023 is the Crazy Taxi remake, and it will have online features. They stated that it is not a remake. They say that the reboot is now scheduled to be released in 2027.
Regarding the Virtua Fighter series, they stated that a reboot is currently being created, although not by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. They say that the development team, which has experience with the current Virtua Fighter games, is working on its development. The game is reported to include features for both individual and group play and will appeal to a wide range of gamers, including those who enjoy friendly competition.
The source stated that these revivals of vintage Sega franchises are part of a broader effort to reimagine numerous inactive Sega franchises.
