Nvidia CEO Unveils AI Products, Declares Tipping Point of New Computer Era

Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, proclaimed that the world stands on the precipice of a new computer era as he revealed an array of AI-related products at a prominent tech trade show in Taiwan. The American company, renowned for its highly sought-after chips in the booming artificial intelligence sector, witnessed its market value soar to almost $1 trillion last week, following a quarterly earnings report that far exceeded expectations.

While Nvidia initially made a name for itself by creating graphics chips coveted by gamers, these chips have now evolved into powerhouses driving the intricate operations of artificial intelligence, known as accelerated computing. They serve as a crucial component in the generative AI revolution, enabling the rapid production of complex content within seconds from data centers worldwide.

During his return to the Computex forum in Taipei after a four-year hiatus from public speaking engagements, the Taiwanese-American CEO expressed his enthusiasm. Our first live event in almost four years! I haven’t given a public speech in four years—wish me luck! he exclaimed.

Huang’s two-hour presentation unveiled a staggering array of novel products, including the DGX GH200, an AI supercomputer platform that is currently in full production. He excitedly shared that Google Cloud, Meta, and Microsoft would be the pioneering companies granted initial access to this innovative platform. They will engage in exploratory research on the frontiers of artificial intelligence alongside us, he remarked.

In theory, this new supercomputer will assist the tech industry in developing a greater number of AI-related products, which necessitate increasingly complex computing tasks. Huang referred to accelerated computing as a pioneering force, asserting, This marks a momentous occasion in history—a new computing model has been developed and realized. We have now reached the tipping point of a new computing era.

Nvidia, founded three decades ago by Huang, initially made its mark in the realm of video games. The Silicon Valley-based company has since established its reputation by manufacturing graphics processing units (GPUs) that enhance image quality and eliminate lag time for gamers. Following an earnings report indicating that the AI trend is driving demand for its sophisticated chips, Nvidia witnessed its stock surge over 25% last Wednesday.
