Meet Gemini: Google’s Next-Gen AI Assistant

Google announces the launch of Gemini, its latest AI-powered chatbot, as a replacement for Bard. Discover the enhanced capabilities and pricing options of Gemini across platforms.

Google changed the name of Bard to Gemini and introduced a premium version that utilizes a more advanced AI model.

Exactly one year ago, Google introduced Bard, an AI-driven competitor to ChatGPT. The LaMDA model was what drove Bard, but in December Google switched to Gemini. Now the service will take on the name of the model that drives it. Farewell, Bard. Hi, Gemini.

Gemini is now equipped with the Gemini Pro 1.0 variant. It may be found in more than 230 countries and is familiar with more than 40 languages. This can be accessed via a web interface—here is the URL—but you can also utilize the new Gemini app.

It is a chatbot that you can communicate with via text or voice. However, Gemini is “multi-modal,” which means that you may also provide it with a photo as input or request it to create an image.

Gemini is available for free; however, currently, it is considered a Tier-2 solution. Additionally, Google has unveiled Gemini Advanced, which uses Gemini Ultra 1.0 as its power source. Following a complimentary 2-month trial, the Advanced subscription will require a payment of $20/€22/£19/₹1,950 for the Google One AI Premium Plan.

This offers 2 terabytes of storage and other premium advantages from Google One (one premium usually costs $10). Shortly, Google will make Gemini available in Gmail, Google Docs, and other services as well (formerly referred to as “Duet AI”). Gemini Advanced is now available in over 150 countries, starting today. However, it is now only offered in English, but there are plans to increase language options in the future.

You can get the Gemini app for Android and iOS (it’s included in the Google app).

On Android, Gemini is replacing the Google Assistant. You can activate it in the same manner, by saying “Hey Google” or tapping the power button, or by using any other method you like. You can request it to condense an article that you are reading or to generate a description for a photo. The previous voice control functions, such as setting timers, making calls, and managing smart home devices, will still be operational with Gemini.
