    Google Taunts Apple's USB-C Conversion

Google playfully taunts Apple over the USB-C update in the upcoming iPhone 15, while also teasing the impending release of the Pixel 8. Unafraid to engage in some light-hearted banter with Apple, Google is orchestrating a delightful rivalry between their flagship devices.

In a fresh teaser video titled “#BestPhonesForever: Spa Day,” uploaded to YouTube just before the weekend, Google humorously ridicules Apple for its belated adoption of the ubiquitous USB-C connector in the forthcoming iPhone 15 lineup. The stop-motion video envisions the iPhone 15 and Pixel 8 luxuriating at a spa, preparing for their respective launches.

The iPhone character, with a cucumber slice gracefully sliding down its camera lenses, reflects on the challenge of keeping pace with Android phones ever since the era when ‘Slide to Unlock’ held significant importance.

The iPhone persona remarks, “Nevertheless, it now appears that every time I glance around, phones like yours are accomplishing feats I cannot match. Such as unblurring ancient photos, responding to unknown calls with artificial intelligence, and providing real-time message translations. It’s quite strenuous, but I still possess a few tricks up my sleeve… Although those shall remain concealed for now. Let’s just say that USB-C adoption is on the horizon!”

The advertisement concludes by encouraging Pixel enthusiasts to prepare for October 4, hinting at an event where the new hardware will make its debut.

Google’s video playfully jests at the illustrious rivalry of the Pixel range, but for Apple, the transition away from its favored Lightning port is a matter of great significance.

According to a recent report by Bloomberg, Apple is reluctantly “embracing a USB-C charger it had initially resisted.” This transition may have transpired organically, as Apple had already chosen to employ USB-C for its iPads and MacBooks. Nevertheless, a mandate from the European Union stipulating a standardized charger by 2024 has left Apple with no alternative but to hasten the switch.

The positive aspect for consumers lies in the harmonization of Apple’s devices, all of which will soon be chargeable using a single cable.
