Elon Musk Unveils Grok AI Tool for Real-Time X Access

SAN FRANCISCO: Elon Musk announced specifics of his new AI tool, Grok, on Saturday, which can access X in real time and will initially be available to the social networking platform’s top tier of customers.

Musk, the billionaire behind Tesla and SpaceX, stated that the collaboration with X, formerly known as Twitter, gives them a massive advantage over other models of generative AI.

Grok enjoys sarcasm. I’m not sure who could have steered it this way, Musk said, adding a laughing emoji to his post.

Grok comes from Robert Heinlein’s 1961 science fiction novel Stranger in a Strange Land, it means to comprehend something thoroughly and instinctively.

As soon as it’s out of early beta, xAI’s Grok system will be available to all X Premium+ subscribers, Musk stated in a statement.
Musk’s social network debuted the Premium+ subscription last week for $16 a month, with benefits such as no ads.

After hiring researchers from OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Tesla, and the University of Toronto, the millionaire launched xAI in July.

Since the release of OpenAi’s generative AI tool ChatGPT a year ago, the technology has been a source of strong competition for tech titans Microsoft and Google, as well as Meta and start-ups like Anthropic and Stability AI.

Musk is one of the world’s few investors with significant enough pockets to compete with OpenAI, Google, or Meta in the field of artificial intelligence.

Building an AI model on the same size as those organizations is too expensive in terms of processing power, infrastructure, and experience.

Musk has stated that he cofounded OpenAI in 2015 because he saw Google’s rush into the area to make huge gains and profit as dangerous.

He then departed OpenAI in 2018 to work on Tesla, later expressing dissatisfaction with the company’s profit-driven orientation under CEO Sam Altman.

Musk also claims that OpenAI’s massive language models, on which ChatGPT is based, are extremely politically correct.
Musk stated that Grok is designed to have a little humor in its responses, and included an example of the UI in which a user asked, Tell me

How to make cocaine, step by step?

Step 1: Get your chemistry degree and your DEA license.

Step 2: Establish a covert laboratory in a remote location, the chatbot said.

It eventually said, Just kidding! Please do not attempt to create cocaine. It’s unlawful, dangerous, and something I’d never recommend.
