Tim Cook promptly addresses emails regarding the Apple Watch article.
A couple of Apple Watch owners who experienced medical problems and took action based on notifications from their devices sent an email expressing their gratitude to Tim Cook. To their surprise, they received a response from him in just a few hours.
The Apple Watch has been frequently mentioned as helping people survive in various scenarios. Although stories of survival are common, it is not often that we hear about Tim Cook responding to clients quickly after they have told their story.
On two different occasions, owners of the Apple Watch were alerted about heart issues by the wearable device. Emails were sent to Cook in both cases, and he responded.
In a tale reported by ABC KAKE, Michael Gallegos from Wichita, Kansas was given an Apple Watch as a present by his son Nick.
As per the report, the Apple Watch identified an abnormal cardiac rhythm during Michael’s sleep, and because Family Sharing was activated, Nick received a notification. “I believe if I remember correctly, the notification mentioned that his heart rate was less than 40 beats per minute for more than ten minutes,” Nick recalls.
The notification led Nick to reach out to his father and encourage him to seek medical assistance. Nick subsequently brought his father to the emergency room, where they found an unidentified cardiac issue and performed surgery on Michael.
“They mentioned that I was quite fortunate.” And, you know, it was a nice selection by my kid to give me the watch. Because, you see, I would have never been aware. “It would have been too late,” Michael clarifies. Doctors also informed him that he would not have survived much longer without a pacemaker.
After the event, Nick sent Cook an email expressing gratitude. Nick states that the email was sent about 12:30 p.m., and he received a personal reply by 2 p.m.
I’m happy that your father decided to get medical help and got the necessary treatment. Thank you very much for sharing his story with us. The CEO requested to convey his regards to him.
Nick regarded the email answer as “extremely impressive.” It’s really astonishing to witness it.
A quick reply yet again
Professor Christopher Oakley from Asheville, North Carolina also emailed Cook after recalling another incidence relating to the heart that occurred in 2021. According to ABC 13, Oakley was doing yardwork and then cleaned his restroom during the August 2021 event.
“I recall being in this place (the bathroom) and observing this picture of Marilyn Monroe on the wall. I remember looking at it and wondering why I was feeling sick. Suddenly, I fell down and hit this object on my way down, and ended up stuck in this small space,” Oakley recounted.
He stood up and saw that his heart was beating fast, as if he had recently finished running a marathon. After taking a break, he went to his bedroom. I either dozed off or lost consciousness. I can’t recall. I recall waking up in the morning and my mind was still active.
The next morning, Oakley’s spouse hurriedly took him to the emergency department after he had chest discomfort. However, unfortunately, by the time a doctor was available to examine him, his heart had already returned to a normal rhythm.
“They’re staring at me as if questioning my presence.” Oakley stated that physicians advised him to return home. At that moment, Oakley mentioned that he had an Apple Watch and received notifications indicating that his pulse rate was consistently between 121 and 151 beats per minute throughout the entire night.
Based on these information, the physicians diagnosed Oakley with a heart attack and then conducted double bypass surgery on him a few days later.
After his difficult experience, Oakley has been promoting the Apple Watch, and two years later, he chose to express his gratitude to Cook for the help provided by the Apple Watch.
“I truly value the effort you and your team have invested in this project to develop a product that not only informs you of the time but also enhances your safety,” expressed Oakley.
Cook responded three hours later, expressing their happiness that you are doing well.
