Apple Introduces The 24″ iMac With The New M3 CPU And Extra Memory

At its “Scary fast” event, Apple debuted the new M3 CPUs and unveiled new MacBooks powered by the latest Apple silicon. In addition, the Cupertino-based tech behemoth unveiled the 24″ iMac with the new M3 CPU, extra RAM, and ray tracing.

The design of the M3 iMac is similar to the previous generation iMac powered by the M1 chip, but the new M3 chip allows it to be up to 2x faster than the M1 iMac, 2.5x faster than the Intel-based 27″ iMac, and 4x faster than the Intel-based 21.5″ iMac.

The M3 iMac, which runs macOS Sonoma, also has greater memory. The M3 with an 8-core GPU has 8GB, 16GB, and 24GB RAM as well as 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB SSD storage options, whilst the 10-core GPU variant has 2TB storage. A 10-core GPU version with 512GB of base storage is also available.

The 8-core GPU model has two Thunderbolt 3/USB 4 ports, whereas the 10-core GPU model has two more USB-3 ports. The former is available in blue, green, pink, and silver, whereas the latter includes three more color options: yellow, orange, and purple. You get color-matched wallpapers and accessories regardless of which model you buy.

In addition to the new CPU, the updated 24″ iMac includes Wi-Fi 6E for faster download speeds and Bluetooth 5.3 for enhanced compatibility with the latest Bluetooth peripherals. Gigabit Ethernet is also supported on the 10-core GPU versions and is customizable on the 8-core GPU version.

The M3 iMac’s 24″ screen has a 4.5K Retina Display with a resolution of 4,480×2,250 pixels and a brightness of 500 nits. The M3 iMac has six speakers and is compatible with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos. It also has a FaceTime camera with 1080p resolution and a “studio-quality” three-mic array.

Apple claims that the M3 iMac is made using 100% recycled aluminum in the stand, rare earth magnets, and recycled tin soldering in numerous PCBs, as well as 100% recycled gold plating – a first for an iMac.
