AMD Ryzen 5 7500F Allegedly Approaching Soon, Lack of iGPU Support

As per a tweet by @harukaze5719, AMD is reportedly planning to introduce a new CPU option for its AM5 platform. Allegedly set to launch this week, AMD’s Ryzen 5 7500F appears to take inspiration from Intel’s naming convention, as the F designation signifies a CPU that lacks integrated graphics (or has them mostly disabled). Being a Ryzen 5 processor, the 7500F is expected to house six functional Zen 4 cores, although sources anticipate a slightly lower clock speed (around 100 MHz slower) compared to the Ryzen 5 7600 (which we reviewed previously).

According to VideoCardz, a Korean retailer announced the imminent release of this CPU, but the source tweet has since been deleted. Since this information is based on leaks, it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Due to architectural changes made by AMD in its Zen 4 architecture, the graphics subsystem is no longer integrated within the CPU chiplets themselves. Instead, Zen 4 has seen the integrated GPUs being relocated from the CPU tiles to the I/O chiplet, thereby optimizing the utilization of CPU die space in Zen 4 wafers.

The product itself is intriguing and appears to strike an ideal balance between price and performance for those intending to use a discrete GPU solution. However, the absence of an integrated GPU does restrict users’ flexibility. Personally, I have frequently relied on an integrated GPU to diagnose issues with my systems (as well as graphics cards). Nevertheless, the availability of more choices is advantageous; users can make their own judgment regarding whether the additional $10 is worth it or not.

Most of the information provided here comes from Harukaze (via Twitter) and a benchmark on PugetBench, where the Ryzen 5 7500F was tested alongside an X670E motherboard and 32 GB of DDR5-4800 memory.

    Specifications:

    ·         ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI (1303)

    ·         AMD Ryzen 5 7500F 6-Core Processor

    ·         32GB (2x16GB) 4800MHz

    ·         NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 (31.0.15.3168)

    ·         Microsoft Windows 11 Pro (22621)

It is anticipated that the Ryzen 5 7500F will be priced approximately $10 lower than the GPU-enabled (and 100 MHz faster) Ryzen 5 7
