Google aims to facilitate faster AI photo editing for everyone

PhotoRoom, the top AI photo editing application, has entered into a new collaboration with Google Cloud, which is anticipated to significantly accelerate image generation while keeping expenses in check.

The software, recognized as the swiftest generative AI provider in the realm of commerce by the company, is specifically designed to enable businesses to create and enhance product images for e-commerce platforms.

In its announcement of the intention to enhance AI performance using Google’s A3 supercomputers, the company stated that this partnership will reduce production times for small businesses and entrepreneurs in product photography from several days to less than an hour, all the while maintaining accuracy and quality.

    Product, production, and photo editing

Similar to other commercial content creation, product photography necessitates the production of high-quality visuals at a rapid pace. Not only must the items appear their best, but websites must also cover variations in color and size to entice potential buyers.

This is a time-consuming process, and that is where PhotoRoom, established in 2019, comes into play. This photo editing tool streamlines image manipulation, enabling businesses to enhance product shots and incorporate unique AI-generated backgrounds. Moreover, it offers free tools such as a background remover and object remover.

Emphasizing the significant increase in genAI usage, Matthieu Rouif, the CEO of PhotoRoom, stated, We are already processing 2 billion images per year, and we anticipate this number to double in 2024 as more businesses adopt PhotoRoom’s generative AI technology. Google Cloud serves as the ideal foundation for our ongoing success, given its scalability, flexibility, and sustainable infrastructure.

The utilization of Google Cloud A3 instances presents a compelling choice. Unveiled in May 2023, these next-generation GPU supercomputers are specifically designed to train and deploy the most demanding AI models for generative AI and LLMs. However, this partnership benefits both Google and PhotoRoom, solidifying the search giant’s clear focus on B2B endeavors when it comes to democratizing artificial intelligence.

We are thrilled to provide PhotoRoom with Google Cloud’s industry-leading infrastructure, foundational models, and AI tools, enabling the company to creatively, reliably, and extensively build, train, and deploy AI, said Mark Lohmeyer, Vice President and General Manager of Google Cloud.
