Apple’s Foldable Future: 7-8 Devices Expected by 2027

Apple gears up for a foldable future, targeting a 7-8 device by 2026-2027. Amid OLED iPad Pro plans, the tech giant explores foldable screens from Samsung and LG Display. A potential 20.25 foldable product is also on the horizon.

According to a recent claim from industry sources in Korea, Apple’s initial foldable tablet may be released in 2026 or 2027. According to rumors, it is said that the internal screen size of the device would be approximately 7-8″, which may potentially replace the iPad mini in Apple’s product lineup.

Nevertheless, the details and features have not yet been determined. In addition, Apple is now experimenting with a new version of the iPad mini that features an OLED display. This decision seems somewhat contradictory if the intention is to swiftly discontinue it to introduce the foldable device.

By the way, it is said that Apple is getting ready to bring OLED screens to its iPad Pro lineup shortly. A new iPad mini with an OLED display is not expected until next year.

Both Samsung Display and LG Display have reportedly supplied Apple with examples of foldable screen panels in the 6″ and 7″ size ranges, respectively. Currently, it appears that Apple is considering a larger size for what would be its initial foldable smartphone.

However, if Apple decides to proceed, it will probably initially place panel orders with Samsung Display, considering its extensive experience in selling flexible panels to Samsung Electronics. If Apple chooses to use two suppliers, LG Display is expected to begin mass production of foldable screens for Apple one year after Samsung.

In the future, possibly around 2028, Apple may also release a 20.25″ foldable device, which could be called either the iPad or the Mac. Naturally, the 20.25″ measurement pertains to the internal, collapsible display.
