WhatsApp Linked Device Feature: Connect Your iPad as a Companion Device
WhatsApp is preparing to introduce a new feature called linked device in the near future, as reported by WaBetaInfo, a website that tracks app updates.
Once the update is ready, users will have the opportunity to link their iPad as a companion device to their WhatsApp account on Android.
Previously, WhatsApp had already allowed users to connect additional iOS devices to their existing WhatsApp account, up to a maximum of four devices. This feature was implemented without compromising the privacy and security of users.
Now, in its latest update, WhatsApp is focusing on ensuring compatibility with iPads as a newly linked device.
The screenshot provided above demonstrates that iPads can now be successfully linked to WhatsApp accounts on Android.
Given that WhatsApp recently introduced companion mode on iOS (and it is gradually becoming available to some accounts), it can be inferred that the next logical step is to make the app compatible with iPads. The ongoing efforts by WhatsApp to enable the application to recognize iPads as linked devices further strengthen the indication that the app will soon be made available to the general public, according to the WhatsApp watcher.
