The dominance of iPhone: Top 10 Smartphones of 2023
Amidst the realm of smartphones, it is Android’s most favored devices that maintain their economical stance, while the dominion of the top 10 is unequivocally claimed by the iPhone.
Apple’s iconic iPhone continues its reign over the smartphone market, and upon scrutinizing individual models, the iPhone unfailingly asserts its supremacy. Conversely, the realm of Android’s most sought-after phones in the year 2023 retains an amalgamation of Galaxy models.
This week, Omdia has unveiled a report delineating the top 10 smartphones that graced the scene during the initial half of 2023, dissected by model. As anticipated, Apple’s illustrious iPhone establishes its prowess in the top quartet of models. Leading the charge is the iPhone 14 Pro Max, commanding the list with an impressive 26.5 million units, closely trailed by the iPhone 14 Pro at 21 million units. Additionally, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 secure commendable figures of 16.5 and 15.5 million units respectively.
The fifth spot marks the entry of Android into the discourse, with the foundational Galaxy A14 managing a commendable 12.4 million units. Positions 7, 8, and 9 are occupied by the Galaxy A14 5G, Galaxy A54 5G, and Galaxy A34 5G, all amassing shipment numbers ranging between 7 million and 9 million units.
A solitary Android flagship finds its place within the echelons of the top 10 smartphones shipped during the inaugural half of 2023, and this distinction belongs to Samsung’s illustrious Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Concluding the illustrious list is the iPhone 11, which made its debut in 2019 and remarkably secured the sale of 6.9 million units.
- iPhone 14 Pro Max – 26.5 million
- iPhone 14 Pro – 21 million
- iPhone 14 – 16.5 million
- iPhone 13 – 15.5 million
- Galaxy A14 – 12.4 million
- Galaxy S23 Ultra – 9.6 million
- Galaxy A14 5G – 9 million
- Galaxy A54 5G – 8.8 million
- Galaxy A34 5G – 7.1 million
- iPhone 11 – 6.9 million
Apple solidifies its claim to more than half of the top 10 smartphones shipped during the first half of 2023, a notable increase from the corresponding period in 2022. In the preceding year, Samsung and Xiaomi contributed six models to the elite list, including two Redmi devices alongside Samsung’s economical phones and the esteemed Galaxy S22 Ultra.
This trend elucidates a discernible pattern: Android’s most favored phones maintain their status as the epitome of affordability. While Apple maintains an unyielding grasp over the elite realm of “premium” devices, Android manages to secure only a solitary flagship-tier device among the esteemed top 10. Even then, Samsung’s growth in this arena remains rather restrained. The Galaxy S23 Ultra recorded 200,000 fewer units sold compared to its predecessor, the S22 Ultra, during the same period last year, and the Galaxy A14 fell short by nearly half a million units in comparison to its predecessor, the Galaxy A13.
