Samsung’s Flagship Counterattack: Galaxy S24 Targets High-End Market
Galaxy S24 Aims to Outshine S23 with 35 Million Unit Sales Target After the blockbuster Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S10, Samsung went a few years without a smash hit. It did, however, catch up with the Galaxy S23 series due to their balanced performance. The South Korean company now expects its next-generation flagship phone, the Galaxy S24, to outsell the Galaxy S23.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 is predicted to sell 35 million units.
According to The Korea Daily, Samsung has set shipping expectations for the Galaxy S24 series of 35 million devices. This is a 10% increase over the Galaxy S23 series. The Galaxy S24 series is slated to be announced in January 2024, and it will be the company’s first ‘AI Galaxy Phone.’ In comparison, the Galaxy S21 and S22 sold fewer than 30 million units, while the Galaxy S23 series sold 31 million. Earlier today, Samsung reportedly disclosed that it intends to ship 253 million smartphones in 2024, including the Galaxy S24.
According to an industry insider, Samsung’s shipment estimates may fluctuate somewhat depending on market conditions, but the company’s bigger shipment objective has been determined. Analysts predict that Apple and Samsung will have similar yearly shipments of roughly 250 million next year. Some predict that Apple will exceed Samsung’s shipment records in 2024, which should be cause for concern for the South Korean company, which has long been the world’s largest smartphone brand.
To compete with Apple, Samsung aims to sell more high-end Galaxy phones.
According to the survey, almost 75% of Samsung phones sold worldwide are low-cost variants. According to certain analyst reports, Samsung’s ASP (Average Selling Price) for smartphones is $295, whereas Apple’s is $988. To offset this, Samsung is reportedly intending to sell more high-end phones in 2024, and it wants to see more high-end Galaxy phones in the top 10 best-selling smartphones list.

We expect premium-centered demand to increase in the smartphone replacement cycle next year, stated Daniel Araujo, Corporate VP at Samsung MX. We achieved double-digit annual growth in flagship shipments and sales growth that outpaced market growth. Furthermore, Samsung anticipates selling over 10 million Galaxy Z series handsets.
According to reports, Samsung believes that if it adds on-device AI to its devices and improves the operating system, it will be able to close the gap with Apple. To that aim, the South Korean company is said to be working with Google and Microsoft to introduce Google Bard or ChatGPT to its devices, beginning with the Galaxy S24 series. Apple, on the other hand, wants to raise shipment numbers in order to increase income from services like Apple Music, Apple TV+, and iCloud Drive.
