Enhancing Samsung’s Software Momentum: One UI 6 Beta
Samsung is embarking on the journey of its grand One UI 6 beta, accompanied by Android 14, although you must exercise patience for a little while longer.
Android 14 Beta Revelation
Over the past few years, Samsung has been steadily enhancing the momentum of its software updates. The monthly security patches have already achieved impeccable performance, yet the major Android updates are still trailing two or three months behind Google’s pace. Although the Korean OEM has not initiated an Android 14 beta, there was a recent rumor that Samsung is poised to kickstart the One UI 6 beta program this month. This speculation seems to hold truth, as a regional company newsroom inadvertently revealed the beta ahead of time, swiftly removing the post thereafter.
Highlighted by several members on our forums, an official post on Samsung’s Germany newsroom disclosed the existence of the Android 14 beta for Galaxy devices, accompanied by One UI 6.0. While the beta did not specify a particular date, it announced that users in the US, Germany, and South Korea would have the opportunity to experience the new Galaxy interface with Android 14 starting today. All three Galaxy S23 models (Standard, Plus, and Ultra) on both unlocked and carrier variants are reportedly included in the list of supported devices.
Anticipating Major Update
Aside from incorporating typical Android 14 features, Samsung’s announcement also provided a glimpse of the revamped Quick Settings UI, boasting an elegant design language reminiscent of iOS. Additionally, the company has promised a brand-new camera widget that enables users to designate storage locations for certain photos before capturing them.
Interestingly, during the mid-year Unpacked event, we usually witness an x.1.1 update to One UI. However, with One UI 6.0 arriving soon with the Android 14 update, most Galaxy devices are likely to leap directly to the next major version, bypassing 5.1.1, which is intended to address bugs and optimize existing features on tablets and foldable rather than introducing substantial changes.
Enrolling in Beta Program
Unfortunately, Samsung has since deleted the announcement post entirely. Although the link remains functional without redirection, it now displays a message stating, “The page does not exist, or an error has occurred.” Nevertheless, once the beta program is live, you should be able to enroll through the Samsung Members app.
