A $400 Nintendo Switch 2 might be under development
As 2024 continues, Nintendo enthusiasts are discussing the potential of a Nintendo Switch 2. Industry experts suggest that this much-anticipated equipment may become available for purchase later this year, with an estimated price of around $400. Dr. Serkan Toto, a Nintendo specialist, discussed his opinions with GamesIndustry.biz, which align with previous reports. He believes that the release of Switch 2 is likely to occur in 2024. Curiously, Toto also mentioned that Nintendo was working on a Switch Pro model, but later they decided to cancel the project.
A new version of the Nintendo Switch, maybe priced at $400, is reportedly being developed.
The gaming community is eagerly anticipating further details about the features and capabilities of the Switch 2. Toto claims that the modifications to the device will be more of an enhancement than a significant alteration or complete redesign. The portable characteristic that is well-known and appreciated by Nintendo will be retained, particularly because Pokémon games are highly popular among people. This approach is comparable to what Nintendo accomplished with the 3DS. They improved the hardware and added new capabilities to the DS while keeping the fundamental experience intact.
Piers Harding-Rolls from Ampere Analysis believes that there will be a little rise in game consoles this year. He partially credits it to the expected launch of the Switch 2. The gaming console has received a significant amount of attention since 2023, and its expected capabilities, such as the advanced DLSS technology, were demonstrated during the Gamescom exhibition.
Individuals are eagerly anticipating the compatibility of the new machine with older games from the Switch, commonly referred to as “backwards compatibility,” to enjoy their existing library of games. In addition, this function will also play a role in determining the popularity of the new Nintendo. Nintendo has yet to release any details about their Switch 2. However, supporters anticipate that they will provide some indications at the February Direct event, which is typically when Nintendo unveils its intentions for the year. Currently, the existing Switch is still functioning and receiving updates for games on the platform.
