LG Unveils Game-Changing 480Hz OLED Monitor

LG's UltraGear 32GS95UE steals the spotlight with a 480Hz refresh rate, offering seamless transitions between 4K cinematic visuals and competitive 1080p gaming. Discover the game-changing features of LG's latest OLED monitor lineup.

Revolutionary LG OLED Monitor Hits 480Hz Refresh Rate LG’s latest gaming monitor, with a refresh rate of 480Hz, has revolutionized the gaming experience.

LG is not waiting until January to release its next iteration of OLED gaming displays. The firm announced the addition of three new displays to its product range, along with improvements to its existing OLED gaming monitors. One of them, specifically, is notable for having dual refresh rate functionality that can go up to 480 Hz.

The UltraGear 32GS95UE is the standout performer. It is a monitor with an OLED display that has a resolution of 4K and a refresh rate of 240Hz. LG claims that you can easily switch to a resolution of 1080p with a refresh rate of 480Hz by clicking a single button. You have the option to assign the function to either a hotkey or a directional switch on the joystick, enabling you to easily move between high-resolution cinematic gameplay or competitive settings.

We have been informed about several 4K OLED gaming displays in the past, and we anticipate the presence of other models at CES 2024. LG’s offering is notable for its dual refresh rate functionality, however. It serves two purposes: as a 4K display for movies and as a highly competitive screen, making a monitor like Alienware’s 500Hz gaming display look inferior.

The refresh rate is one aspect, but this monitor also possesses the impressive response times of OLED. Similar to prior displays, LG is stating a response time of 0.03 milliseconds. We have observed that displays such as the LG UltraGear OLED 27 usually have higher actual response times, yet OLED is still far quicker than LCD screens.

In addition to the UltraGear 32GS95UE, LG also offers the 39GS95QE and 34GS95QE. Both of these screens have a 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratio, along with a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 and a refresh rate of 240 Hz. We have observed numerous ultrawide OLED gaming monitors such as the Alienware 34 QD-OLED, but this is LG’s initial endeavor, and it marks the first instance of encountering this design with a 240Hz refresh rate.

This is also the initial instance where we are witnessing a 39-inch OLED monitor. Although a 34-inch ultrawide is impressive, it is thrilling to witness a somewhat bigger screen providing the same OLED image quality and rapid refresh rate. Both of these screens feature a pronounced 800R curve, and all three screens are certified with G-Sync Compatible, FreeSync Premium Pro, and DisplayHDR True Black 400.

LG is not stopping there. We also have new versions of the UltraGear OLED 27 and the UltraGear OLED 45. The OLED 45 is rather significant. LG currently has two variants of the monitor available, both featuring a refresh rate of 240Hz and a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440. The 45GS96QB model, on the other hand, comes with built-in speakers and USB-C connectivity that supports a power supply of up to 65 watts.

The additional features of these new models are not apparent. LG claims that the screens are improved versions of their earlier models, but we will need to wait until we have seen the monitors to determine what enhancements they offer.
