The Google Pixel Fold 2 could include the Tensor G4 chipset and be released in October.
There are rumours that Google’s upcoming Pixel Fold smartphone might not use the Tensor G3 chipset and instead opt for the Tensor G4. The Tensor G4 is anticipated to be used in the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro when they are released in October. Therefore, if the Fold also includes this processor, it may only be available at the same time as the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro.
The initial Pixel Fold was unveiled during Google I/O last year, an event that occurred in May. Considering this, we were anticipating the release of its successor in May. However, it seems that might not be the case, assuming this rumour is true.
In terms of performance, Google’s Tensor chipsets have never been exceptional. Therefore, delaying the release of the new Fold for a few months to obtain a superior chip doesn’t seem like a negative decision. However, there is additional information: it seems that Google is currently experimenting with the Pixel Fold 2, which has 16GB of RAM, surpassing the RAM capacity of any previous Pixel model. It also has UFS 4.0 storage, which is an improvement over the UFS 3.1 storage in the original version.
We have already witnessed information about the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, but there has been no news about the Pixel Fold yet – and this absence of information could indirectly support today’s rumour.
