Apple’s ‘My Photo Stream’ to Be Discontinued on July 26

    My Photo Stream discontinuation

Apple is set to cease the operation of its feature known as ‘My Photo Stream’ on the 26th of July. This functionality, introduced by Apple in 2011, automatically synchronizes up to 1,000 photos or videos from the previous 30 days. As a result, users can conveniently access their most recent visual memories across multiple Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and Mac at any given time.

However, in a recent blog post, the prominent technology giant disclosed that ‘My Photo Stream’ is scheduled for discontinuation this year on the aforementioned date. Additionally, Apple stated that the uploading of new photos to ‘My Photo Stream’ will be disabled one month prior to the termination of the service. It is worth noting that any pictures previously uploaded to the service will remain stored in iCloud for a period of 30 days from the date of upload. During this time, these images will continue to be accessible on all devices where the feature is enabled.

To briefly summarize, ‘My Photo Stream’ necessitates users to save media content to their camera roll, after which it remains available for approximately one month before being automatically deleted. Unlike iCloud Photos, this service does not synchronize photos in their original high resolution.

Apple has assured users that pictures stored within ‘My Photo Stream’ are preserved on at least one of their devices. Consequently, users need not worry about losing any of their valuable photos even after the service has been terminated. In the event that a desired picture is not available on a specific device, it can simply be saved to the user’s library prior to the 26th of July deadline.

For those wishing to safeguard their pictures from ‘My Photo Stream’ on their iPhone, the process involves opening the ‘Photos’ application, navigating to the dedicated album named My Photo Stream, selecting the desired photos, tapping the Share button, and then choosing the ‘Save Image’ option. By following these steps, users can effectively secure their cherished visual memories. The procedure is quite similar on a Mac; however, instead of employing the ‘Share’ button, users are required to drag images from ‘My Photo Stream’ to their Library.
