Apple’s iPhone 15 Success: Pro Models Lead Production Boost

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max shine as production leaders, constituting 71% of October's iPhones. Apple's 16% surge in iPhone 15 production over the previous model signals a resounding success in meeting consumer demand.

Apple iPhone 15: Pro models hit 71% of production volume; output is 16% greater than that of the iPhone 14.

With 71% of all iPhones produced in October being Pro models—while Apple produced 16% more iPhone 15s than iPhone 14s in the same month last year—the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are proving to be very popular.

The most recent data from Display Supply Chain Consultants indicates that by the end of October, Apple had produced about 70 million panels for the iPhone 15 series. This indicates that an astounding 16% more screens were made for the newest iPhone series than for the iPhone 14 the year before, and an astounding 21% more iPhone 13s were made than anticipated.

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have made up 64% of the total volume produced since June, when production started. In October, the Pro versions made up 71% of the total. Apple managed to raise the average selling price of the iPhone 15 series by 5% over the iPhone 14, primarily because of increased demand for the two priciest models. Apple previously revealed that in the third quarter of 2023, which corresponds to July through September, the company sold 43.8 billion iPhones. This represents a 3% increase over the same period the previous year.

The reason for the disparity in the latest numbers from DSCC is that Apple has not yet included October. As of October, Samsung Display accounted for 74% of all iPhone panels, followed by LG Display at 25% and BOE, a Chinese display manufacturer whose panels have only been utilised in the iPhone 15 series, at 1%. Data from Display Supply Chain Consultants indicates that the iPhone 15 will be a huge success even in spite of challenging macroeconomic conditions.
