Tech magnate and CEO of SpaceX Elon Musk disclosed his intentions to offer the Starlink satellite to Russia, which is already being utilized in the battlefield by Ukrainian forces.
Elon Musk posted on social media site X – previously known as Twitter – on Sunday, stating that there are several inaccurate news reports suggesting that SpaceX is selling Starlink terminals to Russia. As far as we know, Starlinks have not been sold to Russia, either directly or indirectly.
Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla and X, was questioned whether his satellite system Starlink can be triggered from Russia. The wealthiest individual in the world said that “Starlink satellites will not disrupt the connection in Russia.”
The comments of the 52-year-old were in response to Ukraine’s assertions that Vladimir Putin’s forces are utilizing the Starlink satellites in the conflict against Kyiv.
Russia started its military assault against Ukraine in February 2022 and the ongoing conflict has resulted in thousands of casualties and millions of people being forced to leave their homes.
As to Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense (GUR) on Sunday, its forces intercepted a communication among Russian soldiers.
In an alleged 15-second recording, someone can be heard speaking in Russian and claiming “Starlink is functioning, we have access to the internet.”
Andrey Yusov, a spokesperson for GUR, stated that Russian troops are regularly use Starlink terminals.

According to a report from Defense One, sources in Ukraine stated this week that the use of Starlink by Russia was first spotted by Kiev’s military.
Russia has not issued any remark regarding the allegations made by Ukraine. Additionally, SpaceX, in a statement on Thursday, clarified that the company does not engage in any commerce with the Russian government or its military. Furthermore, they have never sold or promoted Starlink in Russia, nor have they delivered any equipment to sites within Russia.
The CEO has given Ukraine at least 20,000 Starlink terminals following Russia’s military incursion.
