Huawei is said to be working on a phone with a screen that can be folded in three halves.
Chinese media outlet Cailian reports that Huawei is working on a phone with a “triple-folding screen” that may be released in the second quarter of this year.
As to the details on the China National Intellectual Property Administration’s official website, Huawei did register two patents concerning triple-folding screens in March and July 2022. The patent descriptions explicitly state that the electrical device consists of three shells and two connectors.
Huawei has previously launched three types of phones with foldable screens: a compact phone that folds vertically, with the latest model being the Pocket S, released on November 2, 2022; a phone that folds horizontally from left to right, with the latest model being the Mate Xs2, released on April 28, 2022; and a phone with a screen that folds inward from left to right, with the latest model being the Mate X5, released on September 8, 2023.
At present, Huawei has not responded to any potential intentions to launch a phone with a triple-folding screen shortly.
However, according to Taiwan’s Tech News, Huawei has increased its orders for backup materials from Taiwanese bearing manufacturers Zhaoli and Fushida and has started to accumulate a substantial amount of stock. The new product is anticipated to be released in the second quarter of this year.
