Google released a February update for its Pixel devices.
Last year, Google officially stopped following its previous practice of providing Android updates on the first Monday of each month. However, today happens to be the first Monday of the month, and as expected, there is a new version available.
All Pixels that are still supported are beginning to receive this update wirelessly; however, it should be mentioned that Google’s distribution process is known for being slow. Therefore, it may take a few days or even longer until every eligible Pixel device receives the message.
Following the installation, all global models, except for the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, will have software version UQ1A.240205.002. The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro will have software version UQ1A.240205.004. All Verizon models receive the UQ1A.240205.002.A1 software version, except for the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, which have the UQ1A.240205.004.A1 version. All SoftBank Japan models have the UQ1A.240205.002.B1 version, except for the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, which have the UQ1A.240205.004.B1 version.
The update includes overall enhancements for system stability and performance, camera enhancements on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, a resolution for the display corruption issue under specific conditions on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, a resolution for the problem with the outer display on the Pixel Fold, overall enhancements for Wi-Fi stability and performance on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, and a resolution for stability and performance issues with “specific third-party apps” on all devices.
