Epic Games presents a first-person shooter game with explosive digital currency elements and a reminiscent feel of the Call of Duty franchise.
The competition for widespread success among well-financed web3 video games appears to be intensifying with the release of “Shrapnel,” a cryptocurrency game with a similar design to Call of Duty, on the Epic Games Store.
Shrapnel, a much-awaited first-person shooter that includes NFTs and a cryptocurrency on Avalanche, has finally released its early access edition, called Shrapnel Training Exercises One (STX1), on the Epic Games Store.
Players need to have bought one of the game’s Extraction Pack access keys to take part. The STX1 early access will include three-day periods of play, each lasting around eight hours. Shrapnel is giving away $100,000 worth of SHRAP tokens as prizes during the forthcoming session from Thursday, February 8 to Saturday, February 10.
What makes their approach to early-access gaming unique is its originality. Neon Machine emphasized that “Shrapnel” takes a different approach compared to the traditional AAA game release method. Instead of keeping players unaware of gameplay and design until it’s fully polished, the company incorporates the community in every production stage. This will continue until the free-to-play game is launched in 2025.
This platform, which has more than 230 million PC gamers, offers a competitive environment for “Shrapnel” to compete with other blockchain-powered games like “Star Atlas” and “Illuvium,” all of which are accessible in early-access form.
Early-release versions enable publishers to include and establish a community around their games while consistently improving and advancing the gaming experience.
While no blockchain game has managed to become popular in the mainstream gaming business, Neon Machine believes that the initial interest in “Shrapnel” is significant, particularly considering the present state of the game’s development. The corporation developed a successful online community on Discord with more than 100,000 members.
