    Nothing Phone (1) Update

Nothing Phone (1) Update Brings Support for Upcoming Ear (2) Wireless Buds. Nothing, the consumer electronics startup founded by Carl Pei, a former OnePlus executive, has recently announced its first software update for its Phone (1) since the Android 13-based 1.5.3 OS. The Nothing Phone (1) is a smartphone that features a minimalist design and runs on Android 13 with the company’s custom UI, the Nothing OS. It boasts a 6.5-inch display, Snapdragon 765G chipset, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a 4500 mAh battery with fast charging support. The phone also comes with a 16MP front-facing camera and a dual-camera setup on the back with two 50MP sensors.

The new update, coming in at 91.79MB, is small but significant, as it includes a few exciting features. Firstly, it includes support for the upcoming Ear (2) wireless buds, set to be launched on March 22 at 10 am ET. This will allow users to connect their Ear (2) buds to their Phone (1) and enjoy a seamless audio experience. The update also boasts a new memory management algorithm that reduces app start times by 35% and lowers CPU strain, which should prolong the Phone (1)’s battery life.

Nothing has also made improvements to the system stability and offered smoother animations for the pop-up view, a better fingerprint transition from the lock screen to the AOD (Always-on display), and new wallpapers. The update also includes bug fixes, including an issue with the Glyph backlighting, which will now appear when receiving calls from WhatsApp. However, some users have reported issues with notifications not appearing when pulling down the bar, which the company will need to address in future updates.

Looking ahead, Nothing has big plans for the future, including the release of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Nothing Phone (2) in the U.S. The new device is expected to build on the success of the Phone (1) and offer even more features and capabilities. It will be interesting to see how the Phone (2) stacks up against other flagship devices in the market.

Overall, the new update for the Nothing Phone (1) brings some exciting new features and improvements that enhance the user experience. With support for the upcoming Ear (2) wireless buds and a new memory management algorithm that improves app start times and battery life, the Phone (1) continues to be a compelling device in the mid-range smartphone market.
