Google Pixel 8 Pro: Unveiling a Quirky Enhancement | Latest Leak

According to a leak, the Google Pixel 8 Pro is poised to receive an intriguing enhancement. The Google Pixel 7 Pro currently stands as one of the most exceptional Android phones available, revolutionizing the realm of flagship devices by incorporating an impressive array of specifications at a more affordable price point. Notably, it boasts one of the most exceptional phone cameras I have ever had the pleasure of using.

Now, news has emerged regarding an idiosyncratic novelty to be introduced in its successor, the Google Pixel 8 Pro. In a peculiar twist, the Pixel 8 Pro appears to feature an integrated temperature sensor.

Positioned within the camera bar, beneath the flashlight, this development was revealed by 91Mobiles and corroborated by the renowned Google informant, Kuba Wojciechowski, albeit the associated video footage has since been removed.

To engage the sensor, users must initially activate it, then carefully position the phone in close proximity to their forehead, ensuring no direct contact is made. Subsequently, they will receive instructions to move the device from the front of their forehead to their temple within approximately four seconds.

In addition to assessing skin temperature, this feature purportedly possesses the capability to measure the temperature of various objects. Curiously, it is expected to be an exclusive attribute of the Pro variant, as the standard Google Pixel 8 lacks the necessary hardware for its implementation.

Undoubtedly, it is an intriguing addition. However, one cannot help but perceive a slight tardiness on Google’s part in introducing it. The sight of an individual measuring their forehead temperature in the video evoked vivid recollections of the Covid-19 lockdowns, reminiscent of the experiences one may have encountered during that time.

Nevertheless, in today’s context, is there truly a practical application for such technology? I find it difficult to discern one, if it indeed exists. Admittedly, during the initial week of acquiring the phone, it may serve as an amusing novelty to experiment with. Undoubtedly, countless cups of tea and coffee will be subjected to measurement in order to showcase this feature. However, beyond that, its utility seems somewhat superfluous.

Nevertheless, as long as it does not significantly escalate the price, I consider it a commendable addition. Even if it remains dormant for most of the time, having such a feature could prove beneficial on occasions when one requires a temperature assessment but lacks a conventional thermometer.
