Create Stunning Images with Microsoft Edge’s New AI-Powered Image Creator

Microsoft has launched an AI-powered tool called Image Creator in its Edge web browser, using OpenAI’s DALL-E models. The tool generates images based on user descriptions, such as keywords, and creates four images. The less instruction given, the more creative freedom the AI has. However, refining the instructions reduces creative freedom.

While the tool may get things mixed up sometimes, it is helpful for users who need a specific visual. Users can find the Image Creator icon in the browser’s sidebar, which lists all available tools that can be placed there. However, the tool only works for users signed into a Microsoft account.

    Image creation timeframes:

Once selected, the Image Creator displays a text input field, a create button, and tabs that display either the user’s creations or other creations. All users receive 100 boosts that speed up the image creation process. However, even with boost enabled, it may take a couple of seconds before the four images are returned.

Users can add more boosts using Microsoft Reward points. Image Creator may help users create images for social sites, blogs, presentations, or documents. The feature is rolling out to users worldwide.

Microsoft announced the feature on the Windows Experience blog, powered by the latest DALL-E models. The feature was launched on Bing last month, and now it’s rolling out to Microsoft Edge.

How to use Image Creator effectively?

The main idea behind Image Creator is to feed it with keywords, which it then uses to generate four images. The fewer instructions, the more freedom the Image Creator has when it comes to creation. A simple “cat” instruction may return all sorts of cat-related images in different styles.

However, refining the instructions reduces the creative freedom that the AI has. Add black, cat, and impressionism, on a tree, to the instructions, and you get just that. AI may get things mixed up sometimes.

When instructed to create an image of a painter in nature, painting a cat on canvas, one of the images showed a cat with human arms painting the image. Microsoft Edge users can find the Image Creator icon in the browser’s sidebar.

Users can check the Settings page, edge://settings/sidebar if the Sidebar is not displayed. A restart or update may also help reveal the tool. Once the boosts are used up, image generation may take longer.

All users get 100 boosts, which speed up the image creation process. Even with boost enabled, it may take a couple of seconds before the four images are returned. Users may add more boosts using Microsoft Reward points.

Closing Words: Image Creator may help users create images based on instructions, which they then may post on social sites, and blogs, or use in presentations or documents. The feature may come in handy for users who need specific visuals.
